The LeapStart is a learning system that opens like a laptop and uses spiral bound interactive books. The spiral bound books were easy enough to place that he is able to do it himself (which is absolutely essential for my independent learner). My son was using the system independently within minutes, turning it on, switching books and figuring out how to play with ease. His favorite book so far is the Atlas. I loved listening to him solve story problems in the Let's Play Math sampler book. This system is a cross between a talking book and a tablet. I like that it is self-contained, has an easy to find and use volume button and is easy to use. My son loves it because it is fun!

I remember buying the leappad way back for my daughter who is now 15 and remember how much she learned to read with it and decided to purchase it for my 5 year old son who is not much of a reader. after 2 weeks with the toy my son was beginning to read. only problem I see is back when my daughter had one she was more intrested in using it while I had to push my son to use it as he instead wanted to play games on the ipad but after using it for a while he loved it. Great buy for a beginner reader!

These really help kids learn and they have fun doing it. Easy to use and GREAT for taking on trips! I think the pen is a bit to chunky but not a big deal.

My boys are in Primary (Kindergarten) and Grade One. They received it for Christmas and they both loved it! I love that the books are tailored for their ages and the toy can be used for multiple ages. Both boys were engaged and interested and it was easy for them both to figure out how to use it. The LeapStart and books are both durable and withstand regular use. My only complaint is that I wish there were more books as the boys have been reusing them and are starting to get bored.
