What parent testers had to say:
My 5 year old really enjoyed playing with the LeapStart Learning System. His favourite section was the spy math page from the sampler book included. I am very selective in which electronics I expose my kids to, but this one passed the test as it's a learning system which I love! This product engaged my son enough to want to play the whole book which rarely happens since usually he's either bored or frustrated. It is a bit on the bulky side but very light for a kid to handle. The pen is the perfect size for my son but the cord could be a bit longer since my son is a lefty I find it on the short side. This system grows with your child from 2-7 and has two levels in each book which will keep your kids engaged longer. Overall I am very satisfied with this product.
Overall, this product is great. My seven year old daughter loved it after first use. The sampler book provided was enough to pique her interest. I am already thinking of buying the activity books for her as a Christmas gift this year. One of the good things that I was very surprised to learn about this product is that it only required 2 AA batteries. Most toys require 4-6 batteries. That's a definite plus for me because I get turned off by most battery-operated toys due to the fact that they require so many batteries. The outer design is very sleek, compact and lightweight compare to the other versions (eg. leap frog). It s very travel-friendly. My daughter can easily slip it in her backpack when we travel. It sits well on her lap. I don't know if it comes in other colors but it would be nice if it does as my children are very color-specific when it comes to choosing toys. The activities in each subjects are very engaging and fun even for the adults. Each page is very attractive. The instruction icons are easy to understand. I also like the fact that it has a plug for a headphone. I also like that the pages are made thicker so that they don't rip easily. We used to have an older model years ago and I found that the pages were too thin/flimsy. The other great feature about this is that it doesn't require cartridges in order for it to work. All you need is the activity books and download the audio companion online and voila! The downside is that the USB cable is a bit too short. Also, I would prefer if the USB and headphone ports have covers to protect them from dust. Other than that, the Leapstart is a great product. My whole family enjoyed this product.
An amazingly engaging product for my son. He repeatedly went back to it and asked if we could get more books to keep using the LeapStart. He really enjoyed the mapping and the math games that we saw as "edu-entertaining" and "fun-ucational" for him.
We were very happy to be given the opportunity to test out the LeapStart? Kindergarten and 1st Grade Interactive Learning System. My son gravitated to it immediately and has enjoyed using it everyday! It was easy to set up. It is very durable and keeps my son going and learning. I love that fact that it is so interactive. Not just like a regular book.
When we received the leap start my daughter was immediately excited about the device. after 5 minutes of set up online, and my daughter took to it like a fish to water. It was very easy for her to use she was able to navigate to easily and it provided her with hours of entertainment. the devices customizable online. As mentioned before it is extremely easy to set up. As long as you have an internet connection it's quick and simple. the leave starts design is easy to carry and is easy to work with. My daughter's favorite section was the blender activity when she got to work with fractions and different items that could be Blended together. overall, I'm extremely impressed by the quality of the sound even with headphones and the speaker. I highly recommend this device for young readers.
