ATTACK…of the dust bunnies….

So the Easter Bunny is due to arrive and I am afraid of what he might find when he starts hiding the eggs in my house. Are the Easter Bunny and the Dust Bunny related? If so, he might stay a while and visit with some old friends. Funny how as the spring days get longer and the long awaited sun light filters into your house it sheds a whole new light on things. By “things” I mean the light dusty film in those nooks and crannies that have been invisible during the grey days of winter. Just for the record, I am not a fan of people actually looking in my “nooks and crannies”, but since it is called spring CLEANING and not spring STAY OUT OF MY CRANNIES, I guess I need to step up. So here are my tips for a quick and somewhat painless Spring Clean…Keep in mind however that I am know as “The COCKTAIL Deeva”, not the Domestic Deeva. Recruit the Troops- though frowned upon by some cultures, Child Labour is perfectly fine when they are your children. You can even get the wee ones in on the action, give them a duster to go on a bunny hunt. One Room at a Time- Rome was not built in a day and cleaning Rome takes time. Make a schedule of what needs cleaning, when and who will do it. This way nothing gets forgotten and no time is wasted doing things twice. Light up your Life – clean your light fixtures, all-purpose cleaner and a polish cloth will do wonders to lighten and brighten your house. Remember it works both ways…If you can’t get around to cleaning before company is due to arrive, lower the wattage in your bulbs to camouflage your dusties and create some mood lighting. Get Jiggy with it!- crank up the tunes. Everything is better with music, and vodka…but that could put a serious damper on the cleaning. Music is a great motivator and can really make those mundane tasks so much more enjoyable. And the Winner Is?– have a reward planned for after you’re done house cleaning. A latte, a healthy dessert, or my personal favorite…A COCKTAIL!! This will give you something to look forward to and reward a job well done. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. ~Erma Bombeck “ Maid to Order” Martini 2 ounces Citrus Vodka 3 ounces Cranberry Juice 1 ounce Pineapple Juice Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice and as a REWARD, a visit from a cleaning services…After all, it is always a good idea to hire a professional….
