I am definitely not the most creative person, but when I hear of something that is easy to make and keeps my child occupied, I am willing to give it a shot. A friend of mine told me about this and I thought it was so great, I had to share! Step 1: Go to your nearest Dollarama or Dollar Store and pick up a set (or in my case, multiple sets) of flashcards. There are sets for all ages: ABCs, First Words, Spelling, Numbers, Animals and many more. For all those Sesame Street lovers out there, Dollarama carries Sesame Street flash cards – $1 each.
Step 2: Grab a hole puncher. If you don’t have one, make sure to buy one (also can be bought at the Dollar store for $2) and punch only one card (this will be your guide card). Note: do not punch a hole too close to the corner as one little pull and they will rip easily (clearly I have learned). Take 3 cards and line them up with the first card you punched and follow the guide. If you think you are strong (here is the test), you can do more than 3 at a time, but hand started to hurt.
Step 3: Buy a pack of binder rings (again these can be bought at the Dollar Store for $1-$2) and put the ring through the holes. Note: if you have to open the ring, I recommend not showing your little one because once they see, that’s it for the cards
Step 4: Buy a lanyard (obviously it can be bought at the Dollar Store for $1.00) and attach the clip to the ring
Step 5: Loop the lanyard through the bar on your stroller and voila … you have your stroller flashcards that your kid can’t lose. The best part is, if they get ruined, just go buy another deck of cards – you can’t go wrong.
Frankie recently started to HATE going into the stroller, so I tried this out and he actually didn’t fight me to get in!!! AMAZING!!! T. xo
