What’s your type of father’s day?

Fathers day bridge

Father’s day is on the near horizon, checking in with us on Sunday June 15th. Have you thought of what you may get, make or do for dad? That’s right I said; get, make or do because the options are pretty well endless. It’s all about how well you know your father that makes it either a very easy decision for you or a dreadful task.

This day is to show him that you truly care and want to do something for him to show him that. Is he someone whom works a lot, or is he a stay at home dad?  Maybe planning ahead for a weekend away or even a weekend staycation is in order after the long winter. Should it be a financially viable option, get a hotel room even if it’s local to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of home life. If a hotel is out of the question, maybe a camping trip to a local campground or even the backyard. The end result is that dad is taken away from the stress of the everyday just as it should have been for mom on Mother’s day. Regardless of how much money is spent on dad, the above is very important in my opinion as not only does it give a chance for dad to relax his body and mind a bit but also a chance to re-connect with his family and spouse in an atmosphere that he can let his mind free.

Let’s take a look at the dads that we all know are waiting to receive something on this day, again, take a look at everything that they do and honor what it is that they appreciate in life. Ask yourself questions about what they are into; sports, landscaping, reading, electronics?? This should easily set you up to what store you are going to head to or which online site. Review, review, review….. Buying something that has a bad review may turn a win in to a loss really quick so take a look into what it is. In the end, if you have troubles settling on something specific it is not impersonal to buy him a gift card as he will love picking out the exact item he wanted, and I’m all for the credit card style as they can use it anywhere that way. Have the kids make a card for him and give it to him in it, as just as mom does, he loves to receive from the heart cards from their child.

For the spouse that purchases for their partner on Father’s day, you can never go wrong with getting something for yourself too! He won’t mind and it’s a win, win situation, Create a night of relaxation and sensual fun for the both of you. Create a spa type atmosphere and treat him to a massage, or feel free to let your mind wander.

  • A homemade gift from the little one and some lovin’ from the wife is fine with me. No need to spend money, appreciation and family time is all this Dad needs for Father’s Day 🙂

  • So true Jason – money isn’t what counts when it comes to gifting for Father’s Day (or Mother’s Day). Our family focuses on spending quality time rather than spending money. Good reminder! Now to start planning… we’re only a couple weeks away!
