When I first came across Kordale n Kaleb’s story it was because of a very viral photo that was shared on a lot of social media platforms. The photo had people shaming, shocked, admiring, and also hating this beautiful couple before they even heard the story behind it. Here’s the photo that was shared among many people both online and off:
The caption reads: Being fathers is getting our daughters up at 5:30 am making breakfast getting them dressed for school and putting them on the bus by 6:30 .This is a typical day in our household . It’s not easy but we enjoy every moment and every minute of #fatherhood .#proudfathers #blackfathers #prouddads #gaydads
To be completely honest, I scrolled through this photo at least 10 times or so before I actually stopped to see what all the hype was about, it didn’t strike me as anything to raise controversy over- just 2 loving parents trying to get kids ready for school on a typical morning- I guess the world thought differently. Some people were thrilled to see this image, giving the couple words of encouragement and praise, while others simply bashed every piece of it to the point of shame.
Fast forward a year later, and I am happy to see that these these wonderful fathers have made a positive impact with their new campaign: I Am Generation Image through Nikon. My guess is that after seeing this inspiring clip, many people will change their views on this wonderful gay couple and their 3 gorgeous children.
Watch:
I’m not sure if it was my upbringing or simply my acceptance for human culture, but I am pretty sure anyone can agree that raising children is tough enough, and these guys seem to be doing it perfectly because they have each other. Gay or straight, this is a ‘family’ by every sense of the term and I think we need abolish our bias’ and teach our children that people are people whatever path in life they chose.
Do you think that the stigma surrounding gay couples will ever be abolished?
Totally love the comercial! I’d like to think that the world will come to terms with what is and what they have no control over but we have a long way to go. Homosexuality is ever present in todays society and people need to realize that as long as the love is there ANYONE can be a parent and build a family!
