Life is full of opportunities, but too often we ar

Life is full of opportunities, but too often we are afraid to leave our comfort zone and try something new. As I’ve recently discovered, these are the opportunities that can change our lives.

I recently traveled to Utah for a getaway with a close friend of mine, joining a group of women who, until then, had been strangers to me. I thought we would enjoy the typical vacation activities. Instead, it was a life-changing experience.

I joined a hike through a mountain with some optional rappelling. Although it wasn’t going to be overly challenging, I am deathly afraid of heights. I told the guide and the rest of the group that they were on their own for the rappelling part. Who the heck steps off the edge of a cliff willingly?

Well, apparently I do.

Thanks to the encouragement of this amazing group of women, I pushed myself beyond anything that I thought myself capable of. I ended up doing four rappels, with the final one being off a 160-foot mountain.

We spend so much of our lives in a permanent state of self-doubt and then an opportunity like this comes along and it changes our perspective on life. It makes us realize how powerful we truly are.
I encourage you to find something that makes you uncomfortable and challenges you. Something that has the power to show you what you are truly capable of.
