Schools Out! While kids are jumping for joy, parents all over the neighbourhood are wondering what the heck are we going to do to keep the kids busy all summer! While summer camps are great, not all families choose all day camps and even if they do, there are still another 4-5 evening hours that kids are looking for something to do. As a kid I had to make lunches and I never liked it. Now as a mom to 3 school aged kids I like it even less. Who likes what, who won’t eat what, who drinks what, same snacks, same sandwiches – or worse, they won’t eat sandwiches! What is there to love about making school lunches?
Soccer snacks have become an expected ‘treat’ for kids at half time of 60 minute games played on soccer fields throughout every city. Kids of all ages run their little hearts out and happily grab a drink of water at a short break but half time seems to have turned into treat time.
The best source to get your vitamins and minerals will always be by eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, grains, protein and omega 3 rich fish. Then on the drive home I reminded her she needed to write the Tooth Fairy a letter as she lost another tooth that day and she had another one for me. “Is the Tooth Fairy real?”
We don’t see many gorgeous days like this, it’s usually a grey Winter’s day and you could use a little sunshine and a boost of energy! Without a private jet to whisk you away to a tropical destination, what is a family to do?
Forget January, September is when everything starts anew when you have school aged children!
