PTPA Media Inc. (“us“, “we“, “our“, or “PTPA”) operates the www.ptpa.com website [NTD: if there is not yet a PTPA app, no reference to an app is necessary at this time, but should be added into the policy once the app is live] and a community for trying free products and services, sharing your feedback and receiving rewards (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Service“).

This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains the ways in which we collect, use and disclose your Personal Information. “Personal Information” is information about an identifiable individual (for example, your name, residential address, telephone number, and email address).

By using the Service, or otherwise providing us with your Personal Information, you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service or otherwise provide your Personal Information to us.

We will never sell or otherwise disclose to any third party any Personal Information that you provide to us without your permission, other than as described in this Policy, or unless we are required to do so by law.

We may modify, revise or update this Privacy Policy at any time by updating this posting. Each time you use the Service, the version of this Privacy Policy then posted will be applicable, so you should check this page each time you use the Service.

What Information Do We Collect?

Information You Provide

Most of the Personal Information we collect about you is information that you provide to us directly. In order to access and use the Service, you will need to create an account (“Account”) and provide the following information:

  • First name and last name
  • E-mail address

In order to qualify as a tester for PTPA, you will be asked for the following information:

  • Phone number
  • Physical Address
  • Email address
  • Birthdate
  • Gender
  • Ethnicity
  • Marital Status
  • Level of Education
  • Employment Status
  • Income Level
  • Information about your children, if any

When you create your Account, you will be asked to generate a password. Your username and password are personal to you and you should keep them safe and secure and not share them with anyone.

We will also collect any other Personal Information you provide to us, by way of a question, comment or otherwise. Sometimes we will request from you additional personal information which you can choose whether to provide.

Information we Collect Using Technology:

Also, when you use the Service (including through your mobile device or computer), we collect technical information that is automatically recorded by the standard operation of our Internet servers.  This information includes but is not limited to:  the operating system you are using; IP addresses; browser type; the sections of the Service you visit; the Service pages read and images viewed; log information; time zone; unique application numbers or device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

This information may also be used for other purposes on an aggregate basis and in a de-identified form, including: (i) for Service and system administration; (ii) to improve the Service; (iii) to conduct internal reviews of the number of users to the Service; (iv) to help us better understand how users interact with the Service; (v) to respond to specific requests from users; and (vi) to protect the security or integrity of the Service when necessary.

Cookies

When you use the Service, we may deploy a “cookie” to your browser or place it on the hard drive of your computer, which allows the Service to remember who you are. Cookies provide additional functionality to digital platforms to better match users’ interests and preferences and enhance security. With most Internet browsers, you can erase cookies, block the creation of cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored, although doing so may affect your use of the Service and your ability to access certain features of the Service. Please refer to your browser instructions or the help section of your browser to learn more about these functions.

Mobile Devices

When you download and install the App onto your mobile device, we assign a random number to your App installation. This number cannot be used to identify you personally, and we cannot identify you personally unless you choose to become a registered user of the App. We use this random number in a manner similar to our use of cookies, as described above. Unlike cookies, however, the random number is assigned to your installation of the App itself and not to a browser, because the App does not work through your browser. Therefore the random number cannot be removed through the modification of any settings. If you do not want us to use the random number for those same purposes for which we use cookies, please do not use our mobile device App.]

If you access the PTPA website on your mobile device, you will be exposed to the cookies that we use and to third party cookies that may be contained in advertisements that we do not control. We will be unable to delete any of these cookies with your mobile device. Therefore, if you do not want to be exposed to cookies when you use your mobile device you should set your mobile device to reject cookies when you use our mobile optimized sites. Our use of cookies and web beacons on our mobile optimized sites are similar to our use of cookies and web beacons on our websites. Your choice to reject cookies is available on our mobile optimized site. If you have questions about how to reject cookies on your specific device please check with the device manufacturer.

For What Purposes Do We Collect, Use and Disclose Personal Information?

We collect, use and disclose Personal Information:

  • To provide the Service, including providing your personal information and feedback, in individualized and aggregated form, to the businesses who provide the products and services you try for their market research and marketing purposes
  • To notify you about changes to our Service
  • To provide user care and support
  • To monitor the usage of and improve the Service
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues

When Personal Information that has been collected is to be used for a purpose that we have not previously identified, we will communicate the new purpose prior to using it for that purpose, unless the new purpose is required or permitted by law.

Potential Secondary Uses of Your Personal Information

As permitted by law, we may also use some of your Personal Information for purposes not directly connected to your use of the Services, as set out below. In some cases, you may choose not to participate in such activities. In other cases, you may opt-out of the use of your Personal Information for secondary purposes by contacting us, as set out below under “Contact Us”.

Marketing Communications:  With your consent, or as otherwise permitted by law, we may send you newsletters, email communications, or other communications in order to provide you with up-to-date information about our Service, and to publicize and promote certain content, products and services offered by us, our business partners and/or other third parties. You may unsubscribe at any time by contacting us, as set out below under “Contact Us”, or by clicking on the “unsubscribe” option in any such email or text communications you may receive.   

Advertising Services: PTPA may use advertising services which use cookies to collect data about your activities that do not directly identify you when you visit our websites.  This information may include the content you view, the date and time that you view this content, registrations, or your location information associated with your IP address.  We use the information we collect to provide you with more relevant advertisements and content (referred to as “Retargeting”).  We collect information about where you saw the ads we serve you and what ads you clicked on.

Contests and Surveys: To participate in certain Service-related promotions, including, but not limited to, contests, sweepstakes and surveys, there may be a separate registration process which may require the submission of Personal Information (including your full name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, demographic or profile information, etc.). We will use the information you provide for the purpose of conducting the promotion (for example, to contact you if you have won), and for the purpose stated in the registration form.

Disclosure Of Personal Information

The nature of the Service is such that Personal Information may be disclosed to the companies that provide the products and services that you try. This data includes some or all of the data you provide as well as the result of PTPA’s analysis of that data in combination with other data sourced by us.

As described in greater detail below, PTPA may also disclose Personal Information to respond to legal requirements, enforce our policies, respond to claims that content violates the rights of others, or protect anyone’s rights, property, or safety. Such information will be disclosed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. We may also share your Personal Information with analytics providers that assist us to improve and optimize the Service.

PTPA may from time to time disclose Personal Information about Users to third parties who provide services to PTPA (“Third Party Service Providers”) who may include Mailchimp, Microsoft Azure and Leger Data.  We will limit this disclosure to only the Personal Information that is reasonably necessary for the purpose or service for which the Third Party Service Provider is engaged. We will use contractual and other means to provide a comparable level of protection while the information is being processed by these Third Party Service Providers, including limiting such providers to using your Personal Information solely to provide PTPA with the specific service for which they were engaged, and for no other purpose.

We may also share your Personal Information with law enforcement, national security agencies or other governmental officials, as required or permitted by law, such as in response to a court order or a verified request relating to a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity.

We may share or transfer your Personal Information where reasonably required in the context of a sale, merger or amalgamation of all or part of our business or the insurance of securitization of our assets. In any such case, the recipient parties will be contractually required to keep the information confidential and use it only for the purposes of the transaction, or proposed transaction.  In the event a business transaction is concluded, assignees or successors of PTPA or our business or assets may use and disclose Personal Information only for the purposes as set out this Privacy Policy, unless further consent is obtained.

PTPA may also share with third parties de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify a particular individual.

Your Personal Information may be stored or processed outside Canada where it may be accessed by governmental and law enforcement authorities without notice to you.

Public User Profiles and Posts:  Certain profile information, including your name; location (if you have your geolocation information on your device turned on or the photos you post are geotagged); and any content that you have uploaded to the Service may be displayed to other users you choose to share this information with, in order to facilitate user interaction within the Service. Please remember that any content you voluntarily disclose online on a public forum becomes publicly available, and can be collected and used by others. We cannot control who reads your postings or what other users may do with the information that you voluntarily post.  You should think carefully about what you make public, especially if it is sensitive information.

Safeguarding Your Information

We take all reasonable measures designed to safeguard your Personal Information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying or modification. Such measures, which may necessarily evolve over time as the availability and effectiveness of methods vary, include physical, organizational and technological safeguards, such as:

  • restricting access to our systems, accounts and electronic databases or other electronic formats that may contain Personal Information through password protection and internal security policies; and
  • implementing technical security measures such as firewall technology, anti-malware screening and data encryption technology

 

While PTPA employs data encryption technology to protect User passwords, Users should be aware that there is a residual risk in transmitting any data electronically. Despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.  This risk is inherent in all Internet dealings.

Retention and Disposal of Personal Information

We will keep Personal Information only for as long as it remains necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.  We use secure means of disposing of Personal Information.

Correcting Your Personal Information

Since we generally rely on you to inform us if there have been any changes to the Personal Information that we have collected about you, please let us know if any of this information has changed by updating your profile. We will not routinely update this information, unless it is necessary for us to do so to fulfill the purposes for which we collected the Personal Information.

Access to Personal Information

As required by applicable privacy law in your jurisdiction, we will, on request, provide you with reasonable opportunity to access the Personal Information about you that we retain, and, as appropriate, have it corrected or updated. All such requests must be received in writing. We will make the information available within 30 days or provide written notice of extension where additional time is required to fulfill the request. Please note that your right to access your Personal Information may be limited by applicable privacy laws. In order to verify your identity, we may also request that you provide certain Personal Information to us to match against our records.

Third Party Platforms

While we try to link only to platforms that share our high standards and respect for privacy, please understand that we are not responsible for the content of, or the privacy practices employed by other platforms. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each platform you visit.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time as our business evolves, in response to legal developments, as new technologies become available or as we introduce new features, products, or services. When we make changes to this Privacy Policy we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of the policy. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page. You should check back here periodically to find out if any changes have been made to this Privacy Policy.

If you do not consent to any change to the Privacy Policy, you may close your Account and refrain from using the Services. Continuing to use our Services after we post or communicate a change signifies that you consent to the revised terms of the Privacy Policy.
